This artifact is about the Website Building unit for Activity class. Students were tasked with creating a personal website on Wix that allowed them to explore various website functions and design aspects.

I chose to include this artifact because it demonstrates my professional knowledge in technology and my passion for integrating meaningful learning activities for students to build on their capacities and skills as 21st-century learners. One of my teaching practices is for students to actively engage with the question "why am I learning this?" With website creation and all other learning activities, students always had to consider the importance of what they were doing was. The screenshots of student rationales on the importance of website creation are shown above.

From this artifact, I learned about how important it was for students to develop personal connections to their learning process. Students may find it hard to personally relate to the things that they are learning, so through critical inquiry on the importance of the learning process, students were able to engage in the learning activities in meaningful ways.

The ways in which I grew or changed as a teacher as a result of this artifact are the planning and scaffolding that comes along with ensuring that students fully grasp the purpose of each learning objective and the assessment of student learning that comes with very personalized projects such as website building. As different students had very different levels of digital literacy, I began with a "Wix website scavenger hunt" where students had to find various features on the website and build a practice website before starting on their personal ones. Peer feedback was also integrated into the process of website creation and assessment was based on whether students had all the different elements in their website (about me, menu bar, buttons, etc.)
