This artifact is about the section on Professional Attributes and Responsibilities in my PSI Summative Assessment Evaluation.

I chose to include this artifact because it demonstrates my teaching practices in accordance to the legal frameworks and policies established for the Alberta education system.

From this artifact I learned how important it is to stay true to myself and to act in ways that accurately reflect my values. As my teaching philosophy is focused on equity, empathy, and empowerment, my PSI experience solidified my beliefs and motivated me to ensure that care was at the core of my teaching practices. As teachers, we have a significant impact on the lives of our students and I realized how important it is for me to accurately model my values into my teaching practices. Teaching is a complex profession and in addition to delivering the learning outcomes, I want to inspire my students to become individuals who care for themselves, others, and the world that they live in.

The ways in which I grew or changed as a teacher as a result of this artifact are the many opportunities I had to self-reflect and establish my core values as a teacher. Through observations of various approaches to teaching, I was able to explore and experiment with what kinds of behaviours and approaches genuinely represented me as a teacher. I felt like I tried on a variety of outfits and also got to view the many teacher outfits and now I have a better idea of what styles suit me best and what styles I want to leave out of my wardrobe.
